KANGAR: The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, has emphasised that the sustainability of the ummah requires courageous leadership that upholds the truth, practises justice and consistently prioritises the interests of the people.

His Royal Highness said effective leadership does not merely depend on position or authority but is demonstrated through the ability to guide and unite society towards shared prosperity.

The Raja Muda of Perlis also stressed that the increasingly complex global landscape demands a comprehensive approach involving all stakeholders, including educational institutions, authorities, religious bodies, the industrial sector, community organisations and the public.

“Every party must play its respective role in a complementary manner to expand opportunities, accelerate solutions to various challenges and create a conducive environment for collective progress,” Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said.

His Royal Highness made the remarks while officiating the International Seminar on Islam and Sustainability of the Ummah (SIDKUN) 2026 here yesterday, according to a statement issued by Istana Arau today.

Meanwhile, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin emphasised that integrating religious knowledge with contemporary disciplines, particularly science and technology, is essential in nurturing a visionary, morally upright, creative and competitive generation capable of addressing the challenges of the modern world.

His Royal Highness said religious knowledge serves as a guide in shaping values, moral character and life’s purpose, while mastery of science, technology and modern thinking enables society to understand global developments and address various issues more effectively.

“This integration will produce a visionary, creative and competitive generation capable of developing innovative solutions in line with the demands of the times,” His Royal Highness said.

Meanwhile, Istana Arau said SIDKUN 2026, organised by the School of Languages, Civilisation and Philosophy (SLCP), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), in collaboration with the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), brought together academics, Islamic scholars and industry practitioners to discuss contemporary approaches and solutions to strengthen the sustainability of the ummah.

Istana Arau said the seminar focused on the roles of applied Shariah, Islamic thought, communication and education, as well as the potential of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), in supporting sustainable ummah development based on Shariah principles.
