PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed satisfaction with the preparations for the upcoming National Day 2025 celebration, describing them as well-organized and filled with enthusiasm, particularly from the thousands of students involved in the human graphic displays.

Communications Minister and MADANI Government Spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Prime Minister was pleased after witnessing the full rehearsal this morning at Dataran Putrajaya, which was attended by more than 5,000 visitors.

“He (Anwar) felt that preparations were going smoothly. Seeing the excitement and commitment of the students who formed the human graphics was very inspiring. Overall, the Prime Minister was satisfied with the level of readiness,” Fahmi told reporters at his weekly press conference.

The Prime Minister also made a surprise visit to meet with 2,000 students participating in the performance, commending their high level of spirit and dedication. Fahmi added that Anwar reminded Cabinet ministers to attend the celebration as a show of support for what he called an important national event.

Attendance at this year’s celebration is expected to exceed 100,000 people, similar to last year, based on data from public transport usage and Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) records.

In addition to the parade and cultural displays, various programs will complement the National Day festivities. These include the Prime Minister’s National Day Address tomorrow at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang, which will be broadcast live on all television channels.

For the first time, the celebrations will also feature Riuh Merdeka 2025, a 30-hour non-stop program beginning at noon tomorrow and continuing until 6 p.m. on August 31 at the New Millennium Monument Parking Lot in Precinct 2, Putrajaya. Visitors will enjoy cultural showcases, music, art, and community activities that reflect Malaysia’s unity and creativity.

Other highlights include the Merdeka Countdown at 11:55 p.m. on August 30 at Precinct 2, and the Merdeka Threshold Celebration at Dataran Merdeka starting at 5 p.m. the same day.

This year’s National Day carries the theme “CIVIL Malaysia: People Respected” and will be celebrated at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31, while Malaysia Day 2025 will be held in Penang on September 16.
