PM Anwar Explores Digital Economy, Tourism Cooperation with Kerala Chief Minister
KOZHIKODE: Malaysia and the Indian state of Kerala are poised to expand strategic cooperation across several high-value sectors, particularly the digital economy, healthcare and tourism.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed the intention during a courtesy meeting with Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan this afternoon.
The bilateral meeting focused on efforts to facilitate and strengthen cross-border trade and investment between the business communities of Malaysia and Kerala.
According to a statement issued by the Malaysian delegation, the two leaders also explored opportunities to expand people-to-people exchanges, bilateral business networks and cooperation in education.
“Closer cooperation in the digital economy, healthcare, tourism, education and other high-value sectors could generate direct economic benefits for both sides,” the statement said.
During the meeting, Anwar also extended an official invitation to Satheesan to visit Malaysia to further strengthen bilateral ties and accelerate the implementation of agreed initiatives.
The engagement concluded the Prime Minister’s series of working visits in India before he was scheduled to depart for Malé at 6.15pm local time to begin an official visit to the Republic of Maldives.
