SK Setia Alam Pupils Cheer as Firefighters Arrive After Classroom Fire

PETALING JAYA: Pupils at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Setia Alam in Shah Alam cheered as firefighters arrived following a fire that broke out in a classroom this afternoon.

The moment was shared by Threads user @cake_chateq in a video uploaded this afternoon.

The video showed several firefighters getting out of a fire engine and preparing to carry out operations at the affected classroom.

It also captured pupils jumping, cheering and clapping as they watched the firefighters arrive at the scene.

“Alhamdulillah, they’re okay. They were excited to see the firefighters arrive,” the caption accompanying the post read.

Earlier, the media reported that the school’s learning session was disrupted when a classroom caught fire in the afternoon.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.20pm.

He said four firefighters and a fire engine from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the scene at 4.37pm, about 17 minutes after receiving the call.

“The fire involved a classroom measuring approximately 55.74 square metres, which was completely destroyed,” he said.

However, Ashrul Riezal said the fire had already been extinguished before firefighters arrived and no casualties were reported.

“Overhaul operations are being carried out using two hose lines, with one water jet supplied from the fire engine,” he said.
