PGA Foils Attempt to Smuggle 13 Cows in Pasir Mas
The General Operations Force (PGA) of the Southeast Brigade successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 13 cows from Thailand in an operation at Kampung Bakong early Saturday morning.
PGA Southeast Brigade Commander, Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, said that during the operation Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan at 2:35 AM, a suspicious Isuzu truck was intercepted, driven by a man who raised concern among officers.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the truck was transporting 13 cows, weighing a total of over 8,450 kilograms, without any valid documentation.
“The suspect, a 47-year-old Malay man, is believed to have been acting as the transporter to deliver the cows to the local market,” he stated in a press release on Saturday.
The total value of the seizure, including the vehicle, is estimated at RM226,750. The case is being investigated under Section 36(1) of the Animals Act 1953.
Nik Ros Azhan added that the suspect and the confiscated items have been handed over to the PGA Komtak Taman Bakti for further investigation.
In light of this successful operation, PGA reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts to combat smuggling activities along the nation’s borders, ensuring the safety and integrity of local industries.
