KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) has set the date for the Nomination Day (HPC) for the Nenggiri State Assembly by-election in Kelantan this Saturday, during which nomination papers must be submitted between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

Election Commission Secretary, Datuk Indera Ikmalrudin Ishak, said that the forms must be submitted to the Returning Officer at the Nomination Centre (PPC) at Dewan Perdana, Kompleks Perdana, Gua Musang District Council.

“Submission can be made by the candidates, proposers, supporters, or any two of them.

“Or any one of them,” he said in a statement.

Ikmalrudin advised prospective candidates who wish to contest to fill out the forms and check with the Returning Officer’s Office or the Kelantan State Election Office before the HPC.

He said that candidates should make the deposit payment in advance, and the payment receipt must be brought to the HPC as proof of payment.

“Candidates representing any political party must also submit a letter of authorization for the use of the party’s symbol when submitting the Nomination Papers.

“The use of any type of musical instruments or loudspeakers for political campaigning through vehicles, as well as waiting or being within 50 meters of the designated boundary, is prohibited at the HPC and constitutes an offense under the Election Offenses Act 1954 [Act 5],” he said.

He added that candidates who have paid the campaign deposit as required under Act 5 are also subject to the regulations of any local authority.

He urged prospective candidates and involved political parties to always comply with the laws, regulations, code of conduct, and instructions issued by the EC, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and local authorities (PBT).

“This is to ensure that the nomination process runs smoothly and efficiently,” he said.
