KUALA LUMPUR: As a gesture of solidarity, PAS has confirmed it will send an official representative to pay final respects and participate in the funeral of the late Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh, scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, this Friday.

According to Harakahdaily, PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan stated that this is to express unwavering solidarity and support for the Palestinian cause.

He noted that the PAS delegation will include the Chairman of PAS Central International Committee, Ustaz Dr. Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi; the PAS Central Information Chief, Ustaz Ahmad Fadhli Shaari; and the Representative of PAS Central Parliamentary Committee, Ustaz Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman.

“Certainly, the passing of Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh is a great loss to the entire Muslim community, but it will never diminish the fighting spirit of those who love the land of Al-Quds,” he said in a statement today.

In this regard, PAS calls on the Malaysian government to immediately take diplomatic steps toward the independence of a sovereign Palestinian state.

He added that this should be accompanied by international pressure to prevent Israel from continuing its atrocities and war crimes against the Palestinian people.

“This is in line with the recent decisions of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), as well as various resolutions and positions of the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that must be respected.

“At the same time, PAS emphasizes that it is disgraceful and dishonorable if the Malaysian government under the Prime Minister’s leadership continues the proposed collaboration between Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and Khazanah with BlackRock.

“This proposed collaboration is clearly involved in financing and arming the illegal Zionist Israeli regime to commit murder, genocide, and war crimes against our brothers and sisters in Palestine; therefore, this collaboration must be completely halted,” he said.
