SEREMBAN, Dec 2: The Negri Sembilan Road Transport Department (RTD) has taken enforcement action against 11,241 commercial vehicles for various traffic and safety violations from January to Nov 29, according to state director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf.
A total of 44,964 vehicles were inspected during the period, resulting in 34,848 enforcement notices issued for offenses such as technical non-compliance, safety risks, and overloading.
Speaking during a press conference at Ops Perang Lebih Muatan along Jalan Labu, Hanif said that enforcement measures ranged from issuing notices and fines to ordering mandatory vehicle inspections.
He also noted that intensified efforts to curb overloading have shown progress, with a 19% reduction in enforcement cases involving heavy vehicles this year, compared to 23% in 2023.
Since the launch of the operation in October, the RTD has inspected 7,492 commercial vehicles, issuing 1,389 notices for various offenses.
In addition, nine vehicles were seized under Section 80(1) of the Land Public Transport Act (APAD). The department has since initiated forfeiture proceedings in court.
Hanif reiterated that strict monitoring will continue to ensure road safety and reduce risks posed by overloaded or non-compliant commercial vehicles on state roads.
