Kuala Lumpur, 3 December :  The Malaysian Immigration Department (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia) has detained a Malaysian national suspected of acting as a ‘carrier’ for irregular migrants during a special operation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Terminal 2 (KLIA2) on 1 December 2025.

The operation, which began at 6:40 PM, involved officers from the Intelligence and Special Operations Division of the Immigration Headquarters in Putrajaya, in collaboration with the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS). Based on two weeks of intelligence gathering, the team successfully apprehended a 25–34-year-old Malaysian man, along with a 25–34-year-old male national from Saint Kitts and Nevis and a female national from China, both believed to have entered the country irregularly. Preliminary checks showed that both foreign nationals held valid Social Visit Passes (PLS).

Authorities seized one Malaysian passport, one Chinese passport, one Saint Kitts and Nevis passport, an immigration security stamp, mobile phones, and cash totaling RM23,100. According to investigators, the Malaysian ‘carrier’ directed the migrants to designated counters to bypass immigration checks, using hand signals and instructions with sketches or images of the counter layout. It is suspected that some immigration officers were aware of the migrants’ movements via WhatsApp messages sent by the carrier.

The operation revealed that the scheme had been active for approximately three months. The Malaysian national faces charges under Section 12(1)(f) of the Passport Act 1966, while the foreign nationals are suspected of violating Section 56(1A)(a) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. All detainees have been taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further action, and additional individuals have been issued notices to assist with the investigation.

Dato’ Zakaria Bin Shaaban, Director-General of Immigration, emphasized that the department remains committed to strict and continuous enforcement to combat illegal activities and safeguard national security in line with the government’s MADANI initiative.
