Mbappe Claims 2026 World Cup Golden Boot

France striker Kylian Mbappe was crowned winner of the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot after Lionel Messi failed to add to his tally in the final in New Jersey early Monday morning.

The French captain scored 10 goals throughout the tournament to emerge as top scorer, surpassing Argentina legend Messi, who ended the campaign with eight goals.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham and Norway striker Erling Haaland are behind with seven goals each.

Mbappe, 27, who plays for Real Madrid, also won the same award at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar when France finished as runners-up after losing to Argentina in the final.

The Frenchman, who made his World Cup debut in 2018, scored two goals in the third-place playoff against England, which saw The Three Lions win 6-4.

Mbappe is now the all-time top scorer in World Cup history with 22 goals in three editions, surpassing Messi by a one-goal margin.
