KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has received firm assurances from Egypt to facilitate the delivery of 374 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Rafah border crossing beginning this April, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.

Anwar said the commitment followed his recent discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, aimed at ensuring smooth logistical arrangements for the aid distribution to Palestinians in the besieged enclave.

“Alhamdulillah, President El-Sisi has given a clear guarantee and commitment to ensure that access is facilitated, enabling immediate assistance to reach more than 100,000 Gazans who are in urgent need,” Anwar said in a statement shared on Facebook.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Malaysia remains steadfast in its humanitarian mission despite ongoing challenges, particularly obstacles posed by Israel.

“At a time when the world is being tested by indifference and hypocrisy, Malaysia will continue to stand as a principled and dignified voice, defending the rights of the oppressed,” he said.

He also called on the public to pray for the safe and successful delivery of the aid, expressing hope that it would reach those in need without disruption.

The Rafah crossing, located along the Egypt-Gaza border, remains a critical gateway for humanitarian assistance into the territory, where thousands continue to face severe shortages of food, medicine, and essential supplies.
