Ziana Zain Considers Datuk Wira Title a Trust, Appreciation
MELAKA: The country’s renowned singer, Datuk Siti Roziana Zain or Ziana Zain, described the conferment of the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (D.P.S.M.) which carries the title of Datuk Wira as a meaningful appreciation for her long journey in the arts.
According to her, the recognition from her home state is very proud, and even stirred her emotions because both her parents did not have the opportunity to witness the historic moment.
“For so long standing, for years we have struggled in this field of arts, at least we are recognised, even if it is from the state of our birth.
“I am very honoured, very proud and very grateful,” she said.
She said this after the 2026 Darjah, Bintang and Pingat Kebesaran Negeri Melaka Conferment Ceremony in conjunction with the 77th Birthday Celebration of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka at Balai Istiadat Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh, here, today.
Ziana Zain said, the award is not merely recognition of her contributions in the arts, but is instead considered a trust to continue giving her best to fans and the community.
According to her, she considers everything she has done throughout her time in the entertainment industry as a responsibility to fans who have always given their support.
“For me, what I do is my responsibility to fans and to the generosity of the public,” she said.
However, the 58-year-old singer admitted to a slight sadness because both her parents are no longer around to witness her receiving the award.
Meanwhile, Ziana said, she will continue to carry the name of Melaka wherever she is as a sign of love for her home state.
“Wherever I am, wherever I go, if people ask, I will still carry the name Melaka everywhere.
“Melaka is in my heart. Never forget where we were born, where the earth is trodden, that is where we belong,” she said.
Commenting on the title of Datuk Wira she received, Ziana said she may need some time to get used to the new address.
“Getting used to it may take time. I even now don’t know how to say it, it feels like a dream too, but I am very grateful. Alhamdulillah,” she said.
