JEDDAH: Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, represented the country at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, convened in Jeddah to address Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

In Malaysia’s National Statement, the Foreign Minister strongly condemned Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which he said aim to permanently occupy Palestinian land. He highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis, with more than 62,500 Palestinians killed, including women and children, and millions displaced, while famine has been officially declared by the United Nations.

He urged OIC member states to raise their voices collectively and take decisive actions to secure peace, justice, and the rights of the Palestinian people.

The meeting adopted a landmark resolution titled “The 21st Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC to Consider the Continuing Israeli Aggression Against the Palestinian People.” The resolution:

  • Condemned Israel’s plan to impose full military occupation of Gaza.

  • Declared Israel’s actions, including mass killings, blockade, destruction of civilian infrastructure, and targeting of holy sites, as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

  • Called for urgent humanitarian access, accountability at the International Criminal Court (ICC), and stronger pressure on Israel through the UN Security Council.

  • Reaffirmed the two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

On the sidelines, the Malaysian Foreign Minister held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Pakistan, and Qatar to discuss strengthening cooperation and reinforcing support for Palestine.

Malaysia reiterated its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and commitment to work with the OIC and the international community to end Israeli aggression, ensure humanitarian aid, and advance the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine.
