KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (VoM): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the Arab-Islamic world and the wider international community to unite in defending human dignity, ending violence, and safeguarding global security in the wake of Israel’s latest attack on Qatar.

In a Facebook post on Sunday night (Sept 14), Anwar described the strike as “clear proof that Zionist cruelty knows no bounds,” stressing that the assault marked a serious threat to the sovereignty of Arab and Islamic nations.

“They have not only oppressed the Palestinian people for decades but now threaten the sovereignty of Arab and Islamic countries as a whole. If Qatar can be attacked, then no nation is truly safe from their threats,” he said.

Malaysia, Anwar declared, strongly condemns the act and will continue to stand with the oppressed people of Palestine. “We will not yield or remain silent as long as such oppression continues,” he added.

Anwar is currently en route to Doha to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The meeting was called following the Israeli air strike on Sept 9 that targeted the Leqtaifiya area in Doha.

The attack, involving some 15 Israeli fighter jets, killed six people, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, his office director, and a Qatari security officer. Reports indicated that Hamas’ top leaders survived the strike.

The Prime Minister departed from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Subang Air Base at 7pm Sunday and is expected to deliver Malaysia’s National Statement at the summit, reaffirming the country’s solidarity with Qatar and the Palestinian cause.
