IPOH, Sept 15 (VoM): Police are seeking the assistance of Wisma Putra and Interpol to track down suspects linked to the shocking murder of a woman and the shooting of a police officer in Simpang Pulai earlier this month.

Ipoh district police chief, Asst. Comm. Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, confirmed that the main suspect has yet to be arrested, while several other individuals believed to be involved are still on the run.

“The motive of the incident has not yet been established as the suspects remain at large. Efforts are being intensified, including through Wisma Putra and Interpol,” he told Bernama on Sunday (Sept 14).

The case unfolded in the early hours of Sept 7, when a 26-year-old police officer from the Simpang Pulai Police Station was shot in the abdomen and stabbed while attempting to apprehend a suspect. The suspect is believed to be connected to the discovery of a woman’s body inside a car at an oil palm plantation near a factory in Simpang Pulai.

The officer survived the attack and is receiving treatment, while police have since widened their investigation to establish the suspects’ network and the motive behind the crime.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing probe.
