PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation in combating corruption, financial leakages and abuse of power to safeguard the nation’s economic integrity.

The commitment was underscored during a courtesy visit by MACC Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman to Treasury Secretary-General Johan Mahmood Merican at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Putrajaya on Monday.

The nearly hour-long meeting served as an important platform for both institutions to enhance collaboration, particularly in the management of high-profile investigations involving public funds and asset recovery efforts.

According to Abd Halim, discussions focused on strengthening coordination through special task forces and dedicated committees established to address complex and sensitive cases in line with current requirements.

“Efforts to ensure more effective investigations and asset recovery were among the key priorities discussed. Special task forces and committees play an important role in handling these matters comprehensively and efficiently,” he said.

He added that the MACC remains fully committed to providing support and expertise in legal, enforcement and technical matters to ensure investigations are carried out thoroughly and cases are resolved effectively.

The meeting also explored ways to improve information-sharing and inter-agency cooperation to strengthen governance, transparency and accountability within the public sector.

The courtesy visit concluded with the exchange of commemorative gifts, symbolising the strong and ongoing strategic partnership between the MACC and the Ministry of Finance in protecting Malaysia’s economic interests and enhancing public confidence in government institutions.
