Kidnapped Man Found in Sewage Tank May Have Been Dead for Two Days

SEBERANG PERAI: A local man who was kidnapped before his body was dumped in a sewage tank at a house in Taman Bistari, Nibong Tebal, may have been dead for two days before he was found yesterday.

This was based on the condition of the body, which was discovered behind a terraced house with the victim’s hands and feet bound.

Meanwhile, Penang Fire and Rescue Department director Mohamad Shoki Hamzah said the department received a call from the police at 2.21pm yesterday requesting assistance to retrieve the body.

He said the operation involved personnel from the Nibong Tebal Fire and Rescue Station, led by operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Norshahila Abu Hassan.

“The Operations Centre received a call from the police requesting assistance to retrieve a body from a sewage tank. The victim was recovered at 5.07pm and handed over to the police for further action,” he told Kosmo!.

Earlier, Kosmo! Online reported that 10 individuals had been remanded for seven days beginning today to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Yesterday, the media reported the discovery of the body of a man believed to be in his 50s, with his hands and feet bound, inside a sewage tank behind a terraced house in Taman Seri Bistari, Nibong Tebal.

The victim had previously been reported missing by his family in the Seberang Perai Tengah district.
