On Saturday, King Abdullah II of Jordan urged for “immediate international action” to put an end to the ongoing genocidal conflict in Gaza, a situation that Israel has been perpetuating for the past 16 months.

In a recent telephone conversation with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, King Abdullah emphasized the pressing necessity for the international community to promptly intervene to cease Israel’s assaults on Gaza and to pledge to restore the ceasefire, as reported by the Jordanian Royal Court.

King Abdullah emphasized the critical need to restore humanitarian aid to Gaza to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.

He reiterated Jordan’s position opposing the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.

Israel launched a sudden aerial offensive on Gaza on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of over 700 Palestinians and injuries to more than 1,000 others. This escalation has effectively dismantled a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been established in January.

This escalation signifies the most significant violation of the ceasefire agreement, which Israel has not fully executed, particularly regarding the second phase that was intended to begin following the conclusion of the first phase in early March.

Despite Hamas reiterating its unwavering dedication to executing all aspects of the agreement comprehensively, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has opted not to advance to the second phase, succumbing to the influence of hardliners within his administration.

The Jordanian monarch articulated apprehension regarding the ongoing assaults on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, as well as the transgressions against Islamic and Christian sacred sites in Jerusalem.

In the occupied West Bank, a significant atmosphere of tension prevails, with reports indicating that at least 937 Palestinians have lost their lives and over 7,000 have sustained injuries due to assaults by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the onset of the Gaza offensive on October 7, 2023, as per the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Regarding the circumstances in Syria, King Abdullah reiterated Jordan’s commitment to supporting Syria’s endeavors to maintain its unity, sovereignty, and stability.
