Gaza’s Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital was destroyed by Israel, which is condemned by Palestine

Palestine criticized Israel on Saturday for the damage it caused to the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that they were against the strikes by Israel on hospitals and medical centers in Gaza.

“The targeting of hospitals and medical centers is a deliberate act meant to kill our people and force them to leave their homes,” the ministry said.

It also said, “Israel’s use of hunger, thirst, and not being able to get medical care as weapons in its military campaign violates basic human rights and international humanitarian law.”

The ministry also said that the lack of action by the rest of the world was wrong and that this “cover” for Israel’s ongoing attack on Gaza was unacceptable.

Another thing it asked for was “urgent international intervention to stop Israeli aggression and protect civilians in Palestine.”

On Friday, Israeli troops bombed the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, which is south of Gaza City, and destroyed the medical complex.

The hospital’s purpose was to offer specialized cancer care. It was the last cancer hospital in the besieged area that was still working before it stopped working because of Israeli attacks and a lack of medical materials caused by the blockade.

There was a spokesman for the Israeli army named Avichay Adraee who said that the building hadn’t been used as a hospital for more than a year but didn’t say why it was destroyed.

Israel launched a surprise air campaign on Gaza on Tuesday, killing more than 700 Palestinians and hurting over 1,000 others. The operation broke a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal that had been in place since January.

Since October 2023, an Israeli military offensive in Gaza has injured more than 113,000 Palestinians and claimed nearly 50,000 lives. Most of the dead were women and children.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest orders for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, who used to be his defense minister, for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza in November of last year.

The International Court of Justice has charged it with murder for its attack on the enclave.
