Two Men Suspected of Cable Theft Arrested After Car Crashes into Drain
KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested two men after the car they were travelling in crashed into a drain while attempting to flee from police in Taman Sri Watan, Ampang, Selangor, yesterday, following suspicions of their involvement in cable theft.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said the arrests were made following a tip-off from the public received at approximately 5.53 am.
“When a police patrol car arrived at the scene, officers spotted a blue Perodua Aruz without registration plates parked along Jalan Watan 8 before it attempted to flee.
“Police pursued the vehicle, which subsequently crashed into a drain, and the two suspects inside were arrested,” he said in a statement today.
He said the case is being investigated under Sections 186, 379, 431A and 124K of the Penal Code, as well as Section 235 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Earlier, two videos showing police arresting the suspects behind a row of shops went viral on the social media platform Threads.
