Istana Negara held a reading ceremony of Yasin, a blessing prayer in conjunction with the 17th Agong Coronation Ceremony

KUALA LUMPUR: Istana Negara in collaboration with the Mufti Department of Johor today held a Yasin reading ceremony, tahlil and ‘doa selamat’ in conjunction with the Coronation Ceremony of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim which will take place on 20 July.

Bernama reports, through a post on Facebook Sultan Ibrahim yesterday informed that the ceremony held at the Main Surau of the Istana Negara here began with congregational Maghrib prayers.

Among those present were the Chairman of the Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee, Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid; Secretary to the Johor Government Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani and Advisor to the Johor State Islamic Religious Council, Datuk Nooh Gadot.

Also present were Datuk Pengelijaya Royal Palace Negara, Datuk Zailani Hashim; Datuk Paduka Maharaja Lela of the National Palace, Datuk Azuan Effendy Zairakithnaini; The Religious Officer of the National Palace, Datuk Munir Md Salleh, officers and staff of the National Palace as well as the heads of Johor State Government Departments.

Events in conjunction with the Coronation Ceremony of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong will begin on July 18 with a Yasin reading ceremony and a prayer for safety at the National Mosque.

It was followed by a special Friday Sermon that gave explanations and reminders to Muslims about the importance of the Institution of a Constitutional King on July 19.

Mosques in the Federal Territory and states without a King or Sultan will use the text of the sermon while other states are subject to the approval of their respective Kings or Sultans.

On the night of July 20, the Royal Dining Ceremony will take place at Istana Negara.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty the Queen, Raja Zarith Sofiah is scheduled to leave for the Orang Asli Gombak Hospital on July 23 while Our King Exhibition at the National Museum will be held on July 25 before the events in conjunction with the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s Coronation Ceremony ending with a banquet Royal Tea at the National Palace on 27 July.

Sultan Ibrahim pronounced and signed the Oath of Office as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on January 31.
