Seven Injured After Tour Bus Overturns in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Genting Highlands

KUANTAN: Seven people were injured in a road accident involving two tour buses and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on the downhill stretch of the Genting Highlands-Genting Sempah Road on Saturday evening.

According to the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, emergency responders received a distress call at 5.29pm regarding the collision at Kilometre 15 of the route. A rescue team from the Genting Highlands Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at 6.06pm.

Operations and Rescue Division Assistant Director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said one of the tour buses, carrying 36 Nepalese passengers, overturned during the incident. Six passengers sustained injuries as a result of the crash.

The second tour bus, which was carrying 34 passengers from Bangladesh and Nepal, was also involved in the accident. However, none of its occupants suffered injuries.

An SUV carrying three individuals was likewise involved in the collision. One of the occupants sustained injuries, while the remaining two escaped unharmed.

Authorities said all passengers and occupants managed to exit their vehicles before rescue personnel arrived at the scene.

Firefighters provided initial medical assistance to the injured victims before handing them over to Health Ministry personnel for transportation to hospital for further treatment.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
