KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Higher Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2026-2035 is being drawn up and will be completed by the end of this year, to replace the PPPTM 2015-2025 which expires next year.

According to Bernama, the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, said the new plan outlines the direction of the country’s higher education in line with current technological developments for the next 10 years.

“With the needs of the digital world and industry-based education, we need to make early preparations in determining the direction of the country’s higher education for the next 10 years.

“So we need to see how to make it (national higher education) more flexible in various aspects,” he told reporters after chairing the PPPTM 2026-2035 Advisory Committee meeting here today.

Zambry said that his side is holding a series of engagements with stakeholders and target groups in formulating the PPPTM 2026-2035 to ensure that the document is comprehensive and inclusive.

Commenting on today’s meeting, he said a group of experts had given their views and presented a brief overview of the strategy, needs and challenges that need to be outlined in the PPPTM 2026-2035.

He said the public can also contribute ideas and views on the production of PPPTM 2026-2035 through a national survey that is being carried out by KPT.
