Israel Launches Deadly Strikes on Yemen’s Capital Sanaa, A Day After Bombing Qatar
SANA’A, Sept 11 (VoM): At least nine people were killed and 118 wounded when Israeli warplanes launched a series of air strikes on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and al-Jawf governorate on Wednesday, just a day after targeting Hamas leaders in Qatar’s capital, Doha.

According to Yemen’s Ministry of Health, the attacks struck residential neighborhoods, a medical facility on Sanaa’s 60th Street, and a government compound in al-Hazm, al-Jawf. Officials warned the death toll could rise as civil defense teams continued pulling survivors from the rubble and extinguishing fires.
Local media, including Houthi-run Al Masirah TV, reported that among the targets was the headquarters of the Houthis’ Moral Guidance Department, where several deaths and injuries were recorded. The Yemen Oil and Gas Corporation also confirmed that fuel storage and medical stations were hit.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said surface-to-air missiles were fired at Israeli aircraft, forcing some to retreat before discharging their payloads.
“Our air defenses confronted the Zionist aggression … the bulk of the attack was thwarted, thanks be to God,” Saree said in a statement on Telegram.
The Israeli military, however, said its strikes targeted “military camps, the Houthis’ public relations headquarters, and a fuel storage facility used by the terrorist regime.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the strikes, saying they were retaliation for a recent Houthi drone attack on Israel’s Ramon Airport.
“We will continue to strike. Anyone who attacks us — we will reach them,” Netanyahu declared.
This latest assault comes amid repeated Israeli strikes on Yemen in recent months. In August, Israeli forces killed Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and several top officials in a targeted raid.
The Houthis accuse Israel of attempting to break their solidarity with Gaza, where more than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed in nearly two years of continuous bombardment. The group has vowed to maintain drone and missile operations against Israel, along with a blockade of Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea, until a ceasefire is reached.
Analysts warn that Israel’s widening military campaign risks igniting new fronts in an already volatile Middle East, with regional capitals from Doha to Sanaa now being drawn directly into the conflict.
