Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek Unveils Key Initiatives for 2026 to Enhance Access and Learning Quality

PETALING JAYA: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, known for her ability to deliver results, has outlined a series of key initiatives for 2026, reaffirming the Ministry of Education’s (KPM) commitment to improving access, infrastructure, and quality of education across Malaysia.

This year, KPM will focus on the implementation of the New Preschool Curriculum and the Malaysia Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2026-2035, setting a roadmap for comprehensive educational reform.

According to Minister Fadhlina, 2026 will see the expansion of preschool access nationwide, targeting children at the foundational stage of learning.

A total of 350 additional preschool classrooms will be established to accommodate increasing demand.

In addition, RM125 million has been allocated for the renovation and maintenance of existing preschool facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.

Infrastructure development remains a priority, with 17 new schools scheduled to open this year to meet growing enrolment needs.

Meanwhile, 50 underprivileged schools will undergo upgrades, improving facilities and creating better learning spaces for students.

To enhance digital literacy, 1,801 schools will be equipped with computer laboratory equipment, supporting interactive and technology-driven learning.

Safety and security will also be strengthened, with 333 boarding schools outfitted with CCTV surveillance systems to ensure student welfare.

KPM is expanding access to inclusive education, including the establishment of 200 new special education classrooms to cater to students with diverse learning needs.

The Ministry will also launch seven new Comprehensive Schools (Sekolah Komprehensif 11) and a Special Education Sports School, providing students with tailored educational pathways.

Support for teachers remains central to KPM’s plans, with 564 teaching assistants deployed in schools and 600 hostel wardens appointed to enhance student support.

Furthermore, preschool teachers will be recruited online to strengthen English language instruction, aligning with KPM’s focus on early language proficiency.

Innovation in teaching and learning will be driven by technology, with 800 schools incorporating artificial intelligence tools to support personalized learning experiences.

Finally, the DELIMA 3.0 platform will integrate AI to streamline administrative processes and enhance teaching efficiency, reflecting KPM’s commitment to modernizing education.

Minister Fadhlina concluded by urging all stakeholders to work with determination to ensure that every initiative translates into tangible outcomes, emphasizing that every child deserves the best educational opportunities.
