KUALA LUMPUR: The Digital Education Policy and Madani Subsidy Assistance (BUDI MADANI) are among the focal points of the Dewan Rakyat session today.
According to Bernama, as per the Order of Business published on the official Parliament website, Ahmad Johnie Zawawi (GPS-Igan) will question the Minister of Education about the number of trained teachers for implementing digital technology and the number of schools in Sarawak that have started the Digital Education Policy.
During the question-and-answer session, Ahmad Johnie will seek clarification on the needs and preparations of the ministry for these schools.
In the same session, Datuk Suhaimi Nasir (BN-Libaran) will raise questions about the public’s need to register in the new data system for diesel assistance through BUDI MADANI and question why the existing system, known as the Primary Data Platform (PADU), is not used.
Suhaimi will also ask the Minister of Finance about the costs involved in developing the BUDI MADANI system and the method of procurement, whether it was done through open tender or otherwise.
Additionally, Jamaludin Yahya (PN-Pasir Salak) requests the Minister of Plantation and Commodities to state whether the ministry has plans to reinstate the Palm Replanting Programme, which was previously a loan and is now a grant.
Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan (BN-Kuala Pilah) will also raise issues regarding the initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs to enhance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in strengthening border control to reduce the risk of criminal threats to the country.
After this session, the Dewan Rakyat will continue with the first reading of four bills: the Arbitration (Amendment) Bill 2024 and the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication (Amendment) Bill 2024.
Also to be presented are the Medical (Amendment) Bill 2024 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Amendment) Bill 2024.
Following this, the Dewan Rakyat will resume the debate on the Sexual Offences Against Children (Amendment) Bill 2024 for its second reading.
Also listed in today’s Order of Business is a Special Chamber session addressing Foreign Traders in the Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market area and Disruption of Mobile Device Systems among Fishermen.
The Second Meeting of the Third Session of the 15th Parliament will last for 15 days until 18th July.
