Comedian Mamat Sepah clarifies his story and denies intention to cause conflict
KUALA LUMPUR: “Maybe some of us have forgotten all the incidents that happened, but I still remember every moment that took place,” said comedian Mamat Sepah, referring to past events with Sepah members Jep and Shuib. This includes a dispute discussed in a recent episode of Dol’s podcast, hosted by Shuib along with Shuk Sahar and Fizie.
Mamat explained that his comments on the podcast pertain to events from around 16 years ago. “Alhamdulillah, God has given me a strong memory. Perhaps some have forgotten the incident and think that certain things have been fabricated. However, history cannot be erased,” he mentioned in a Harian Metro report today.
He stressed that he had no intention of causing embarrassment or engaging in conflicts. “I have no desire to escalate the situation. The three of us are like brothers, and what happened in the past was accidental,” he said. “In today’s social media era, it’s easy for things to go viral. My relationship with Jep and Shuib remains good.”
Earlier, Jep, whose real name is Mohd Nadzri, addressed the issues arising from the podcast on Instagram. Jep claimed that the podcast’s content was largely exaggerated and fabricated.
During the podcast episode, Mamat recounted how the Sepah group had initially auditioned for a comedy program. Mamat and Jep had been friends since school, while Jep met Shuib during the Akademi Fantasia auditions. They successfully passed the audition but were not selected due to various reasons.
They later tried out for Raja Lawak 2, but Shuib withdrew after a major argument with Jep. The podcast also revealed that Shuib and Jep nearly came to blows at a food stall due to their dissatisfaction with each other. Although they aimed to audition for Raja Lawak 3, Jep and Shuib were still embroiled in their feud at that time. Mamat acted as the mediator who managed to reconcile them, leading Sepah to eventually win the competition.
