Cabinet expresses appreciation for National Athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the national athletes who competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics, said Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil.

He stated that the country’s athletes have made every effort to bring glory to the nation by winning two bronze medals.

According to Fahmi, the Prime Minister also hopes that the achievements attained by the national athletes at the Paris Olympics will serve as motivation to enhance the team’s efforts in the future.

This appreciation was made after the Cabinet meeting yesterday.

Malaysia concluded its Olympic campaign in Paris with two bronze medals, achieved by men’s professional singles player Lee Zii Jia and the men’s doubles team Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in badminton.

In other developments, Fahmi, who is also the spokesperson for the Unity Government, stated that Anwar had contacted the Chief Advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, yesterday.

He mentioned that during their discussion, Muhammad Yunus assured the safety of all parties, including minority groups in Bangladesh.

“The Prime Minister communicated with Muhammad Yunus, and during their phone conversation, the Prime Minister raised several issues, including the need to ensure the safety of minority groups in Bangladesh.

“The interim Prime Minister of Bangladesh assured that he and the Bangladesh government will guarantee the safety of everyone, including minority groups in Bangladesh,” he said at his press conference today.

Last week, Muhammad Yunus, 84, a Nobel Prize winner, was sworn in to lead a transitional government consisting of 17 members in Bangladesh.

This occurred following weeks of protests that led to the downfall of the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The swearing-in ceremony for Muhammad Yunus and his team took place at the office of President Mohammed Shahabuddin in the capital, Dhaka.
