PETALING JAYA: Bursa Malaysia Bhd recorded a 13.5 per cent increase in profit after tax, zakat and minority interest (PATAMI) to RM214.8 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared with RM189.3 million in the corresponding period last year.

The increase was supported by stronger trading activity, sustained fundraising and encouraging investor participation across the securities and derivatives markets.

For the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, the exchange operator’s PATAMI rose 10 per cent to RM70.2 million from RM63.8 million in the same quarter a year earlier.

Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Datuk Fad’l Mohamed said the performance for the first nine months of the year reflected sustained market momentum, supported by stronger trading activity and continued robust capital raising.

He said a total of 47 initial public offerings (IPOs) were recorded during the period, while the Securities Market’s Average Daily Trading Value (ADV) increased by 27.6 per cent and the Derivatives Market’s Average Daily Contracts (ADC) grew by 19.3 per cent.

“With Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) projecting Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of between four and five per cent in 2026, Malaysia’s domestic fundamentals remain supportive of capital raising and investment activities.

“At the same time, geopolitical uncertainties and tighter global financial conditions have made investors more selective in their capital allocation decisions.

“In this environment, our focus remains on enhancing market vibrancy and participation while continuing to invest in the resilience and reliability of our market infrastructure,” he said in a statement.

He said strategic initiatives currently being implemented included enhancements to the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI and FTSE Bursa Malaysia Mid 70 indices, the implementation of MY Value Up and the strengthening of regional and international market connectivity, including between Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Bursa Malaysia’s operating revenue for the nine-month period increased by 19.8 per cent year-on-year to RM620.8 million, driven mainly by higher trading activity in the securities and derivatives markets as well as listing fees.

However, operating expenses also rose by 23.4 per cent to RM349 million, reflecting continued investment in talent development and technology, as well as higher regulatory fees.

In the Securities Market, ADV for On-Market Trades (OMT) increased by 27.6 per cent year-on-year to RM3.2 billion.

Fundraising activities also remained strong, with 47 IPOs raising RM6.1 billion and contributing RM28.7 billion to market capitalisation.

Bursa Malaysia also led the ASEAN region in terms of the number of IPOs and funds raised during the period.

In the Derivatives Market, ADC increased by 19.3 per cent year-on-year to 113,120 contracts, driven mainly by stronger trading activity in Crude Palm Oil Futures and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures.

In the Islamic Market, Bursa Suq Al-Sila’ (BSAS) recorded an ADV of RM48.5 billion, while Bursa Gold Dinar continued to register growth as the value of gold traded surged by 124.2 per cent to RM234.5 million.

Non-trading revenue, which accounted for approximately 37 per cent of total operating revenue, also increased by 19.3 per cent to RM229.4 million.

The growth was partly attributed to a 64.1 per cent year-on-year increase in listing and issuer services revenue.
