RM400 Million Corporate Mafia Asset Seizure Proves MADANI Government’s Firm Action, Rafizi Must Stop Criticising – AMK

KUALA LUMPUR: The seizure of assets worth more than RM409 million in an investigation into the alleged “corporate mafia” demonstrates the MADANI government’s firm commitment to resolving the issue.

Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Executive Council member Amira Alias said the success would also leave Kancil party leader Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli “speechless” and prompt him to stop criticising the issue following the MADANI government’s decisive action to address it.

“Rafizi should also thank the government for taking firm action to resolve the issue instead of merely shouting from the sidelines and exploiting it for his own political gain.

“It seems Rafizi will have to find a new political issue to capitalise on after the government successfully addressed the corporate mafia issue through asset seizures exceeding RM400 million, especially as the Kancil party faces pressure following the controversy surrounding Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad’s release in a khalwat case,” she said in a statement today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously revealed that funds amounting to RM37.53 billion had been seized by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with investigations into corporate mafia-related financial crimes.

According to the Prime Minister, the achievement reflected the authorities’ commitment and determination to combat financial crimes while ensuring effective enforcement action.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had also previously said that police seized assets worth more than RM409 million in investigations into the alleged “corporate mafia”, involving the abuse of power to pressure business owners into selling company shares below market value.

In a written parliamentary reply, Saifuddin explained that 70 share trading accounts valued at RM323.59 million and 404 bank accounts containing RM85.62 million had been frozen or seized as part of the investigation.

Saifuddin added that police had also frozen or seized eight properties, 11 vehicles and 417 Central Depository System (CDS) accounts.

Commenting further, Amira stressed that AMK would not pay attention to any new issues raised by Rafizi, describing them as nothing more than political ammunition intended to poison public opinion.

“It would be better for AMK to focus on explaining to the people the MADANI government’s performance over the past four years,” she said.
