KANGAR, Oct 18: The Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT) at Bukit Aman has taken over the investigation into an audio recording allegedly featuring a political leader making defamatory and insulting remarks against the Perlis royal institution.

Perlis police chief Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim confirmed that the state police are assisting in the case by gathering supporting evidence.

“Perlis police will only assist Bukit Aman in the investigation,” he said on Saturday.

Earlier, Arau district police chief Supt Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi revealed that the audio clip contained slanderous and disrespectful statements directed at the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, and Raja Perempuan Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah.

He added that the recording, which has been widely circulated on social media, includes false claims that could damage the dignity and reputation of the Perlis royal household.

Police have urged the public to refrain from sharing the clip or making further speculations while the investigation is ongoing.
