KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a telephone conversation this afternoon with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to discuss the latest developments regarding the Gaza Peace Plan.

According to Anwar, President El-Sisi informed him that the current focus of the plan is to locate and retrieve the bodies of Israeli hostages from Gaza. This move aims to prevent the Zionist regime from using the issue as an excuse to delay or undermine the ongoing peace process.

El-Sisi also shared updates on the implementation of the plan’s second phase, which includes the reconstruction of Gaza, protection of the West Bank, and the execution of a United Nations (UN) resolution to establish an International Stabilization Force (ISF).

During the conversation, the Egyptian president extended an invitation to Anwar to attend the upcoming Gaza Reconstruction Conference in Egypt, part of the joint international efforts to strengthen global support for Gaza’s recovery and long-term stability.

El-Sisi further expressed hope that the upcoming visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to Malaysia next week would yield positive results, noting Washington’s crucial role in ensuring lasting peace in Gaza.

Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to defending peace, advancing humanitarian efforts, and coordinating aid missions for Palestinians who continue to endure prolonged hardship.
