PAPAR, Sabah: Barisan Nasional (BN) is set to launch its manifesto tomorrow, covering nearly all aspects aimed at meeting the needs of the people and advancing state development, including addressing the “three essentials” of water supply, electricity, and road infrastructure.
BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the manifesto aligns with the coalition’s slogan, “Bikin Balik Sabah,” ahead of the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17).
He highlighted that one of the manifesto’s key priorities will be reducing youth unemployment in Sabah.
“Approximately 17 percent of the state’s youth, totaling around 165,000 people, are unemployed. One in five unemployed Malaysians is from Sabah,” he said.
“The manifesto outlines methods to reduce unemployment through a new education ecosystem, particularly via Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Coincidentally, I also serve as Chairman of the National TVET Council. InshaAllah, TVET education will be emphasized in Sabah. We want Sabah’s youth to work in the state, supported by industries attracted through new investments,” Ahmad Zahid added.
He made the remarks after attending the Khatam Perdana Pra Tahfiz KEMAS and Islamic Arts and People’s Feast Night at Dewan Lok Kawi Height.
Ahmad Zahid also clarified that the manifesto had been prepared well before the candidate nomination day, but the announcement was intentionally scheduled later.
“I requested that the manifesto announcement be postponed so that once the campaign starts, people can learn about it. The timing is good because Saturday publication allows better media coverage over the weekend, making it a main headline,” he explained.
The BN manifesto is expected to be a comprehensive plan addressing both infrastructure needs and youth employment, with a strong focus on leveraging education and investment to develop Sabah locally.
