KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) Lembah Pantai chief Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin has welcomed calls to revive Muafakat Nasional (MN), saying renewed cooperation among major Malay-based parties is crucial for political stability and national well-being.
In a statement today, Muhamad Muqharabbin—also known as Datuk Qobin—said the proposal by UMNO Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh, supported by PAS lawmaker Fadli Shaari, deserved serious consideration as it prioritises public interest and Malay political unity amid mounting challenges.
He said past cooperation between UMNO, BERSATU and PAS had served as a key pillar of national cohesion, contributing to political stability while safeguarding Islam, the Malay Rulers and the constitutional rights of Malays.
“If the three parties can reach a consensus and return to the table in the spirit of unity, attempts by any party to pressure or exploit the system to alter the nation’s core foundations can be more effectively checked,” he said.
Muhamad Muqharabbin urged leaders of the three parties to set aside ego and old disputes, and to put the interests of the people and the country above political differences.
He added that stronger political unity was also needed to restore investor confidence, strengthen the economy and secure the future of coming generations.
Reviving Muafakat Nasional, he said, should be viewed as a strategic necessity to ensure political stability and long-term prosperity for Malaysia.
Muhamad Muqharabbin is a former UMNO Youth executive council member (2018–2022) and former Lembah Pantai UMNO Youth chief.
“United we stand, divided we fall,” he said.
