KUALA LUMPUR: Police have begun phased traffic diversions and dispersal exercises across major roads in the capital from 8am to 7.45pm today (Oct 23), as part of a full rehearsal for the 47th ASEAN Summit.

According to Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the ongoing rehearsals, which continue until Friday (Oct 25), are crucial to ensure smooth and secure movements of official delegations during the summit.

“We advise the public to avoid the affected routes, follow traffic personnel’s instructions, observe temporary signboards, and consider using public transport,” he said on Wednesday (Oct 22).

Police confirmed that road closures will only take place twice, from 8am to 8.45am and 7pm to 7.45pm, to allow for convoy route management, personnel deployment, and coordination checks for international delegates.

A total of 1,111 traffic police officers and personnel have been deployed for traffic control, VIP escorts, and enforcement duties throughout the ASEAN Summit.
