Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has stated that the results of the 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) will be made public on May 27, as planned.

The minister claimed in a Facebook post that the teachers’ vacation would not be impacted by the results’ scheduled release because they would still be able to participate in the planned activities during the week-long school holidays beginning on May 25.

“Enough time is required for the Education Ministry, overseen by the Examination Syndicate, to thoroughly and precisely process the findings.

In order to admit SPM graduate applicants at a higher level, it also considers other factors, such as application deadlines and updates from the University Central Unit (UPU).

SPM results are now available via SMS or online at myresultspm.moe.gov.my, according to the same development.

“Candidates without access can check and obtain the results at any nearby school.”

She stated in the post, which repeated what she said at a press conference following the state-level ‘Highly Immersive’ 2024 Carnival launch at SMK Saujana Indah in Seberang Perai, Penang, yesterday, that ‘the school has a long period of time to plan and coordinate the management mechanism as well as the administration of tasks related to the release of the 2023 SPM exam results’.

She stated that in order to guarantee the timely publication of SPM results and the welfare of all teachers, the ministry administration would also arrange engagement sessions with all state education departments as soon as possible.

The celebratory event, if any, did not have to take place during the same week, she continued.

“It can be put into practice when classes resume.

“School administrators are asked to make sure that there is no disruption to teachers who have scheduled holidays or travel.”

The ministry declared on Thursday that the results of the 2023 SPM exam, which had 395,870 candidates, would be made public on May 27 starting at 10 a.m.

The formal publication date of May 23 falls on a school vacation, Fouzi Singon, secretary-general of the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP), requested that it be issued early on May 23.

In a statement made public on Thursday, Fouzi noted that teachers had already begun making plans for the next week-long school holidays that begin on May 25, therefore the date that the ministry had provided was inappropriate.

Additionally, he stated that educators needed enough time to get ready for the holidays after devoting a significant amount of time and energy to their pupils’ academic development all year long.
