BPOM is committed to supporting President Prabowo’s initiatives for food and welfare
JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s Asta Cita, or eight core tasks, have the full support of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
In this sense, the agency hopes to contribute to Indonesia’s vision of food self-sufficiency by assisting the government in creating work opportunities for individuals through its function as an organization responsible for assuring the safety of food and medicines.
“The BPOM is committed to proactively supporting the development of infrastructure and the creation of job opportunities by overseeing the pharmaceutical industry and medical equipment circulating in Indonesia,” BPOM Head Taruna Ikrar said in a statement released on Thursday.
He believes that for the government to promote Indonesia through Asta Cita, state institutions must maintain clean governance by prioritizing integrity, which is critical to defending the country from corruption, collusion, and nepotism.
In order to maintain its integrity, he confirmed that the BPOM has formed partnerships with a variety of entities, including the State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
The BPOM has also collaborated with the State-Owned Companies Ministry to generate excellent job opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship, and expand the creative sector, with a particular emphasis on improving the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium-sized companies (MSMEs).
Taruna stated that his agency views MSMEs as key partners capable of creating high-quality goods and moving the country closer to self-sufficiency.
As a result, the BPOM is eager to promote MSME items that it has certified via a variety of channels, including e-commerce platforms, trade shows, and collaboration with foreign partners.
“This is in line with BPOM’s vision of boosting local products’ contribution to the global market, building local industries’ self-reliance, and supporting the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision,” he told me.
