KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is ready to cooperate with the authorities if needed regarding the fatal accident involving three students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Dungun, Terengganu, last night.
According to the Wilayahku portal, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the ministry is prepared to provide any necessary expertise to the relevant authorities.
“We are ready to assist from a technical and medical perspective based on the evidence in the investigation conducted by the authorities,” he said.
He made these remarks at a press conference after officiating the National World Mental Health Day 2024 celebration.
However, Dr. Dzulkefly declined to comment further on the matter as the incident is under investigation by the authorities.
Earlier, media reports indicated that three UiTM Dungun students were killed, while one was reported to be in critical condition after being struck by an SUV.
The incident occurred near the university at around 8 PM last night.
According to public sources, the car driven by a woman collided with two motorcycle victims and two pedestrians.
At the time of the incident, the motorcycle victims were returning from an afternoon recreational activity.
The SUV that hit the victims was driven by a woman in her 40s, who is said to be experiencing mental health issues.
The deceased victims were identified as Khairil Anwar Jamaludin and Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi, both 20 years old, and Mohd Akmal Tukirin, 25 years old.
All three were students from the Faculty of Accounting.
The critically injured victim was identified as Amar Danish Mohd Ridwan, 20 years old.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Forensic Department of Dungun District Hospital, while the injured victim was taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ).
