KPKT receives recognition certificate from the Malaysia Book of Records

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) today received a recognition certificate from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) after setting three new MBOR records during the Malaysia Clean Day 2024: Mega Cleaning Program in conjunction with World Cleanup Day last Saturday.

According to the Wilayahku portal, the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, received the three MBOR certificates from its Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Wong, here today, during the event held at Pasar Seni, Kuala Lumpur, and 649 locations nationwide.

The three new MBOR records are the Largest Simultaneous Participation in a ‘Gotong Royong’ (community cleanup) which signifies the highest simultaneous participation nationwide, Heaviest Solid Waste Collected in a Day, and Longest Non-Stop ‘Gotong Royong’ Cleanup Program, which lasted for 12 hours.

Nga expressed appreciation to all the teams and parties involved in organizing Malaysia Clean Day in conjunction with World Cleanup Day, which aims to foster a culture of cleanliness.

“This program is also in line with the aspirations of the Madani government, which focuses on sustainability and the well-being of the community as key pillars.

“With a short time frame and coordination, we were able to centralize the machinery and operations at all levels to achieve the targeted goals,” he said.

He made these remarks during the MBOR Certificate Presentation Ceremony for Malaysia Clean Day: National Mega Cleaning 2024 at the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

He announced that Malaysia Clean Day will be established as an annual event and part of the ministry’s agenda, to be held on the last Saturday of September.

“I would like to announce that Malaysia Clean Day in 2025 will fall on the last Saturday of September,” he said.
