KUALA LUMPUR: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for Vijayaletchumy, a 48-year-old Indian woman who fell into an eight-meter-deep hole during a landslide on Jalan Masjid India, has entered its fifth day today.

Bernama reports that an inspection of the site found that authorities were seen holding discussions and assigning tasks for the SAR operation as early as 8 a.m.

It is understood that the victim’s daughter, Surya, 26, arrived at the search site around 9 a.m. to follow the progress of the operation.

Observations around the incident area also revealed that most businesses remain closed, with only a few vendors starting their operations by 9 a.m. Meanwhile, nearly 50 media personnel arrived at the location as early as 8 a.m. to cover the ongoing search.

In the incident last Friday, Vijayaletchumy, who was in the country with her family for a vacation, was reportedly on her way to a nearby temple when she fell into the hole and has since been missing.
