Datuk Red jokes about staying single forever during TikTok Live with daughter

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Adnan Abu, also known as Datuk Red, 46, recently had a heartwarming conversation with his 6-year-old daughter, Anggrek, that caught the attention of netizens.

In a TikTok live session, Datuk Red was seen taking care of his children at home while his ex-wife, singer Adira Suhaimi, was at work. During the stream, a viewer playfully inquired about the whereabouts of his “girlfriend” Adira.

When Datuk Red explained that his “girlfriend” was busy with work, Anggrek was surprised to hear that her father had a girlfriend. Playing along, Datuk Red joked, “Papa’s girlfriend is more beautiful than your Ami (her mother Adira). It’s true, I want to get married.”

Anggrek, distressed by the joke, said she would inform her mother. Datuk Red responded with, “Go ahead and tell her, do you think Papa is scared?”

The conversation took a humorous turn when Datuk Red joked about having a new child with his girlfriend, which made Anggrek cry. He then reassured her, saying, “Yes, Papa won’t remarry. I’ll stay single until I’m old. When you get married, your husband will put Papa in an old folks’ home.”

The interaction between father and daughter amused netizens, who enjoyed the light-hearted exchange.

Datuk Red and Adira married in Songkhla, Thailand on December 3, 2015. Their nine-year marriage ended in divorce on April 24 this year. Besides Anggrek, they have three other children: Asan, 5; Anggun, 4; and Ayob, 1.

It was previously reported that Datuk Red had requested fans and friends to pray for his potential remarriage to Adira, which is planned for Aidilfitri next year.
