KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is addressing all comments in the Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) 2/2024 with an open mind and is taking action accordingly.

According to Harian Metro, Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that KDN welcomes every point raised in the report.

“The report specifically outlines these issues, and KDN is in the process of addressing and responding to them.

“It is up to KDN to review whether the criticisms specifically involve certain departments and what the nature of the criticism is.

“So we need to be open-minded, take the necessary steps to address and improve upon the issues, and provide clarifications as part of the process,” he said at a press conference after officiating the 102nd Immigration Day at Dataran Pahlawan today.

He was responding to questions about the overlap of functions among agencies in developing foreign worker management systems, which has been criticized for wasting public funds in the LKAN and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report.

The overlaps involve the Integrated Foreign Worker Management System (ePPAx) and the Centralized Foreign Worker Management System (FWCMS) under the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) and KDN.

The report revealed that the FWCMS system was used for about six years without a finalized contract, clearly violating government regulations.

PAC Chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin was reported saying that there are weaknesses in the ‘Identification’ (ID) management of the FWCMS system and has reported it to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for investigation.
