GERIK: A husband and wife were killed, while their son was seriously injured, after the car they were travelling in collided with a tour bus on the East-West Highway near the Banjaran Titiwangsa Rest and Service Area (R&R), heading towards Gerik, today.

In the incident, which occurred at approximately 1.40 pm, the deceased were a 64-year-old man and his 58-year-old wife, while their 28-year-old son sustained serious injuries.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said in a statement that the department received an emergency call through the NG999 hotline before fire engines from the Gerik and Jeli Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene.

He said all three victims travelling in the car were trapped inside the vehicle.
