Melaka State Election: All 28 Nomination Centres Close at 10 AM

MELAKA: The nomination process for the 16th Melaka State Election has concluded after all 28 nomination centres across the state closed at 10 am today.

A one-hour period, beginning at 9 am, was allocated for the submission of nomination papers before the respective Returning Officers announced the closure of the nomination process at their centres.

Attention now turns to the official announcement of the list of eligible candidates and the number of candidates contesting each State Legislative Assembly seat.

The conclusion of the nomination process marks the beginning of the 14-day Melaka State Election campaign period, as stipulated by the Election Commission (EC), which will run until 11.59 pm on November 13.

Observations at several nomination centres since early this morning found that supporters had gathered to accompany their respective party candidates to the nomination venues in an orderly manner.

The EC has set November 10 as the early voting date, while polling day will take place on November 14.

A total of 687,697 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this election, comprising 675,166 ordinary voters, 9,769 military personnel and their spouses, and 2,762 police personnel.
