Wanita UMNO Subang Bestari combines grassroots expansion with digital intelligence initiative

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita UMNO Subang Bestari is combining the establishment of its new branch with a digital intelligence initiative aimed at strengthening its communication and campaign strategies through data-driven media analysis.

Newly appointed branch chief Nik Suryani Megat Deraman said the initiative would bring together the ideas, experience and expertise of women while enhancing the organisation’s presence and effectiveness at the grassroots level.

She said digital tools could improve the way the organisation communicates with the public, but must complement rather than replace direct engagement with the community.

“Organisational work must move in tandem with changes in the communication landscape and developments in digital technology, without neglecting face-to-face engagement and close relationships with the local community,” she said in a statement today.

The initiative, known as Citra Nang (Strategic Digital Intelligence & Influence Team), was founded and is led by Nik Suryani in collaboration with the Malaysian Multimedia Journalism Association.

It will focus on monitoring current issues, analysing online discussions, assessing public sentiment and evaluating media content performance, with the findings used to shape communication plans and campaign strategies.

Rather than focusing solely on producing social media content or increasing online visibility, Citra Nang aims to identify trends in public conversations and understand audience responses before translating the findings into targeted communication strategies.

The initiative is also expected to complement Wanita UMNO’s existing digital campaign efforts, including those under PR10, by connecting online intelligence with grassroots activities.

Its key areas of focus include developing communication strategies, strengthening digital presence, improving content and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of communication efforts.

The establishment of the Subang Bestari branch alongside the launch of Citra Nang reflects an effort to integrate grassroots organisation with data-driven digital communication to make the movement’s outreach more strategic and responsive to public sentiment.
