MIDA Organises East Coast Region Investment Seminar 2026 on 8 September
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) will organise the East Coast Region Investment Seminar 2026 themed “Driving Investment and Bumiputera Development in the East Coast Corridor” on 8 September in Kuantan.
The seminar, targeting participation from 300 attendees, aims to strengthen the investment ecosystem and empower local and Bumiputera companies in Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu.
MIDA said the programme will bring together local and Bumiputera companies, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), mid-tier companies, investors, industry players, financial institutions and government agencies to explore new growth opportunities and build strategic relationships.
MIDA Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, said the East Coast Region has a strong economic and industrial foundation as well as significant potential to grow into a more competitive investment corridor.
“With increased connectivity via the ECRL, the strength of existing sectors, and opportunities in new and high-value sectors, we see great scope for local and Bumiputera companies to grow alongside investments coming into this region,” he said.
He said SMEs and local companies must view this development as an opportunity to enhance capacity, adopt technology, become suppliers to larger industries, and penetrate new markets.
“This seminar is one of the platforms to help them understand these opportunities and connect them with parties that can assist in realising them,” he added.
MIDA said the seminar also focuses on encouraging existing companies to increase production capacity, strengthen technological capabilities, boost productivity, and shift to higher value-added activities.
The programme will feature sessions on the New Incentive Framework (NIF), the ECRL Forum, and a “From the East Coast to the World Stage” session discussing investment opportunities, regional connectivity, and pathways for local companies to expand their businesses into wider markets.
In addition, a Bumiputera Economic Participation Forum and a Halal Ecosystem Session will be held, focusing on strengthening local company participation and the development of the halal ecosystem and food security.
A Business Clinic session will provide opportunities for companies to interact directly with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, the Malaysian Immigration Department, the Social Security Organisation, and relevant government agencies to obtain guidance on operational issues, compliance, manpower, approvals, and project implementation.
Therefore, MIDA encourages participants to register early to obtain the latest information, build business networks, explore investment opportunities, and gain direct access to government agencies through the Business Clinic sessions.
