The government withdraws the license if any party intentionally increases the price
PUTRAJAYA: The government will withdraw and cancel licenses if there are parties who deliberately increase the price of goods or services.
According to Sinar Harian, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said that strict action should be taken following the targeting of the fuel subsidy implemented to help the needy.
“School buses are going up (prices), but we warn you, you get subsidized and beware if you raise it.
“I don’t know anyone else, as for me, if you go up even when you get subsidies, we’ll pull your license, cancel (your) company,” he said in his keynote address at the Public Service Mentors’ Civil Aspirations Gathering here on Friday.
He said, entrepreneurs need to register with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) if they have not received a diesel ‘fleet card’ under the Subsidized Diesel Control System (SKDS).
Through SKDS, the ‘fleet card’ allows school bus operators to continue enjoying a quota of 1,800 liters of diesel per month at a price of RM1.88 per litre.
In the same development, Anwar explained that the government’s move to target diesel subsidies is not an easy action because it does not want to burden the people.
“You think we in the cabinet are happy to do things, we don’t have a heart, we don’t care about the poor, raise the price of goods, no.
“If I’m on my own, ten times the meeting carefully so as not to be a burden.
“So fishermen are excluded, subsidies continue, they are not withdrawn for fishermen, small farmers and school buses,” he said.
Starting Monday, the price of diesel at petrol stations in Peninsular Malaysia was floated and according to the current market price is RM3.35 per litre.
In line with the move, eligible users will receive Budi Madani cash assistance of RM200 per month while the ‘fleet card’ allows school bus operators to continue enjoying a quota of 1,800 liters of diesel per month at a price of RM1.88 per litre.
