Bukit Aman Special Branch Director Appointed Acting Deputy IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman Special Branch Director Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus has been appointed as the acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police, effective today.

The appointment is to replace Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, who will be compulsorily retiring tomorrow after nearly 35 years of service with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

A duty handover ceremony between Ayob Khan and Ibrahim was witnessed by the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here.

Ayob Khan, who was born on July 27, 1966, in Kota Setar, Kedah, was appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police on June 23, 2023.

Throughout more than three decades with PDRM, he has served in the Special Branch, including the Counter-Terrorism Division, in addition to holding the posts of Johor Police Chief, Director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, and Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, before being appointed as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
