FELDA Must Be Further Strengthened To Elevate Settlers’ Dignity – PM

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) must continue to be strengthened as an institution that plays a role in elevating the dignity of its settlers and their families, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said he emphasised this during a courtesy call from the new FELDA Chairman, Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir, in Putrajaya yesterday.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the welfare of every generation of settlers must go hand in hand with efforts to strengthen economic competitiveness and FELDA’s sustainability, including paying special attention to issues faced by the new generation.

“I am confident that with the trust placed upon him, Ahmad Badri is capable of continuing the agenda of recovery and strengthening FELDA.

“In fact, the MADANI Government will continue to provide full support to ensure that this people’s institution continues to progress and remain relevant for future generations,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Ahmad Badri was appointed as FELDA Chairman effective July 15, succeeding Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, whose term ended on June 30.
