RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability as the foreign ministers of both countries held high-level talks in Riyadh, focusing on the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, as well as broader security issues in the Gulf region.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani on Sunday to discuss the progress of the US-Iran negotiation process and the efforts being undertaken by both Gulf nations to promote security and stability across the region.

During the meeting, the two ministers emphasised the importance of safeguarding freedom of maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf, describing secure shipping routes as essential for regional and global economic stability.

They also exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the strong strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and their shared commitment to enhancing regional cooperation.

The discussions come as diplomatic efforts to revive dialogue between Washington and Tehran continue. According to Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the next round of negotiations between Iranian and US officials is expected to take place after the July 9 funeral processions for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The meeting in Riyadh reflects continued Gulf coordination on key regional developments, with both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions while maintaining peace, security, and stability in the Middle East.
